552,727. Filtering liquids. SMELY, V. Oct. 30, 1941, No. 13990. [Class 46] [Also in Group II] A machine for separating sugar crystals from the mother liquid comprises a rotary drum fitted with three troughs or tunnels 1, Fig. 2, in which are mounted powerdriven endless filter belts c. The mixture is fed on to the belts at one end of the drum by shoots a<SP>1</SP> which rotate with the drum and the separated solids are discharged from the belts at the other end into an enclosing hopper q. The belts may be made of bars e, Fig. 3, of lozengeshaped cross-section and having eyed ends which are threaded on rubber-covered endless wire ropes d. The belts are supported, between the driving wheels, by rubbercovered rollers k. The separated liquid may be deflected plates r.
