[Class 75 (iii)] An electric gas igniter comprises a filament a arranged in an apertured or reticulated sheath A and bridging the ends of two insulated conductors b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, housed in a tube or surrounded by a wrapping of insulating material B to form a substantially rigid member, the end of one conductor being connected to means readily inserted between the metal sheath and cylindrical insulating cover of a dry battery and the end of the other conductor being attached to a terminal which can be readily brought into contact with the other battery terminal. In the construction shown the conductor b<SP>2</SP> is connected to a flexible metal strip e connected to or integral with a curved metal plate B inserted between the metal sheet C<SP>1</SP> of the battery and its non-conducting covering C<SP>2</SP>. By bending the strip e the end d of the other conductor b<SP>1</SP> is brought into contact with the central battery terminal c to complete the circuit to the filament a. In another construction the conductor b<SP>2</SP> is connected to a metal strip in contact with battery sheath and the conductor b' is connected to a spring metal clip secured by a hinged catch around the non-conducting battery cover. A resilient metal strip attached to the metal clip may be pressed into contact with the central battery terminal to complete the filament circuit.
