Abstract

551,474. Colour filters. DUFAY-CHROMEX, Ltd., and CLYNE, A. CORNWELL-. Aug. 20, 1941, No. 10629. [Class 97 (i)] Ultra-violet filters, for use in goggles or otherwise, comprise laminated glass embodying, in addition to a normal interlayer, one or more intermediate layers of gelatine in which is incorporated a dye or dyes absorbent of ultraviolet light ; a dye imparting a neutral grey tint to the filter may also be embodied in the same or other gelatine layers, and gelatine layers having dyes as in Specification 551,473 may also be embodied. The ultra-violet absorbing dye may be #-naphtholdisulphonic acid or #-methyl unchalliferone ; the neutral grey may be produced by higrosine K. The dyed gelatin may be coated on to one or more glass layers, on to a normal interlayer, or on to both glass and interlayer, or may be made up as a separate sheet or sheets subsequently embodied in the laminated glass.
