Abstract

551,338. Electric soldering apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., (trading as STANELCO PRODUCTS), and WARD, G. L. July 11, 1941, No. 878f. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] An electric soldering tool head comprises two conducting arms 13, 14 fixed one above the other in a clamp 11, extending forward parallel to one another, and then bent so that they become parallel in a horizontal plane. Electrode-carrying extensions 15, 16 are rotatably mounted on the arms 13, 14 and secured by screws 19, 20- Electrodes 17, 18 are adjustably fixed in diametral holes in the extensions 15, 16 and secured by screws 21, 22. Both electrodes may be of carbon, or one of copper and one of carbon, or one or both of copper with a carbon tip. The circuit is completed through the metal of the joint, and the carbon electrodes become.heated. The copper electrode may be used as the actual soldering bit. The tool head may be a hand tool or may be part of a foot-controlled equipment. Specification 546,695, [Group XXII], is referred to.
