Abstract
550,543. Flexible tubes. COMPOFLEX CO. Ltd., MOSELEY, J., and GEBBIE, W. P. V. Aug. 14, 1941, No. 10333. [Class 99 (ii)] In a flexible tube formed of a number of layers of coiled wire with intervening layers of other material, the outer coil is anchored to the tube to prevent relative movement. In one form, Fig. 2, a tube 1 formed of an inner wire coil 3a and lavers of kraft paper or textile material, the outer layer 2 being of kraft paper, is provided at intervals or at each end only with one or more layers 4 of brass foil to which the outer wire coil 3 is soldered at 5. In a modification, the brass foil is omitted and the outer wire coil is anchored at the end of the tube by superposing a length of adhesive tape. In another form, Fig. 4, lengths 7 of tape formed of textile material are secured longitudinally on the tube and the wire coil 3 is attached to the tape by string or thread 8. This is secured at 9 to the wire coil, threaded by means of a needle over and under the wire coil, and again secured at 11 to the wire coil. A layer of adhesive tape may be added.
