Abstract
549,611. Road vehicles. NATIONAL FITCH CORPORATION. May 26, 1941. No. 6753. Convention date, Aug. 2, 1940. [Class 108 (i)] Road vehicles adapted to carry a container and having means for transferring the container between the road vehicle and a railway vehicle are provided with means for locking the container on the vehicle in the form of a stirrup 60 with an opening extending over the projecting ends of skid-rails c (or other projections adjacent to the base) of the container c, locking means such as cuts 62 on the threaded ends of bolts 70 projecting from the vehicle and apssing through lateral apertures of the stirrup 60 being provided to hold the stirrup in the position of use. In a construction of road vehicle provided with bridge members for sliding out to connect them to the railway vehicle and with means for locking them in extended or retracted position the stirrups are locked in their position of use by the bridge pieces when these are locked in their retracted position.
