[Class 106 (ii)] Apparatus for measuring changes in the internal dimensions of vessels under varying pressures therein comprises a frame or body 10 carrying relatively movable gauge heads 15, 16 tending to move apart, a support 19 for the frame enabling the latter to be located at the required dimension and recording means 28, 29. The frame 10 comprises a cylinder closed by end plates 11, 12 supported by an adjustably fixed gauge head 15 and two feet 19, the other gauge head 16 being adjustable by a screwed sleeve 20 and movable, both heads being carried by webs 13, 14 extending from the cover 11. The head 16 is carried by a slide 21 formed as a rack gearing with a pinion 22 on a spindle 23 centred between the webs 13, 14 and carrying a gear wheel 24 meshing with a pinion 25 on a spindle 26 also carried on centres between the webs this spindle carrying a recording arm 27 apertured to clear the spindle 23 and carrying a scriber 28 working over a second sheet 29 on a carrier 30 mounted on the rod 31 of a piston 32 working in a cylinder 33 formed within the cylinder 10. The cylinder 33 and chamber 35 of cylinder 10 are filled with compressible liquid. The pressure in the vessel 17 acts through the port 34 on the piston 32. The weight of the record arm tends to move the gauge head 16 into engagement with the internal surface of the vessel 17 and a line 36 is traced on the chart recording the change in dimension against the pressure.
