[Class 108 (i)] [Also n Group XIV] A stretcher, bed or the like comprises a base 1, an intermediate frame 6 inclinable in one or more positions relative to the base, a seat rest 10 secured to the frame 6, a back rest 12 hinged to the seat rest and a pair of similar leg rests 16, 22 and 17, 23 hinged side by side to the seat rest for independent adjustment in inclination. As shown applied to a stretcher, the frame 6 is provided at both ends with forked members 7 which may pivotally engage cross-bars 4, 5 on the stretcher base 1 so that the frame 6 may be given an inclination in one direction or the other and be retained by folding links 8, 9. The back rest 12 may be retained in an inclined position by folding struts 14, 15. The leg rests each comprise two hinged parts which may be set at various angles relative to one another by means of a link 30 and notches 32. The portion 22 or 23 of each leg rest is connected to the frame 6 by a slotted strut 24 engaging a pin 28 on the frame. When the portion 22 or 23 is raised to the position 29 in line with the portion 16 or 17, the pin 28 engages a transverse part of the slot in the link and retains the straightened leg rest in raised position. By these means the leg rests may be independently adjusted to accommodate the legs of the occupant. The frame 6 and rests supported thereby may be folded down on to the base 1 and secured by strap-andbutton fastenings.
