[Class 56] A method of forming a tubulature on a glass bottle or like vessel consists in heating the part of the vessel to which the tubulature is to be applied, placing a mould over the heated part, and pressing a charge of molten glass in the mould to form a tubulature united to the vessel. A machine for carrying out the method comprises a vertical pillar 5 on which is pivoted a bracket 4 carrying a manually-operated plunger 3 provided with a spring-pressed mould ring 14. A two-part mould 2 is carried by arms 9 hinged on the pillar 5. In use, the glass vessel 1 is placed on a pair of parallel rails 11 secured to the base 6 of the machine, and is positioned against an adjustable stop 12. The mould 2 is closed and is brought into contact with the vessel 1, the part of the vessel wall contiguous to the mould 2 having been heated. A charge of molten glass is then placed in the mould and pressed by the plunger 3. Finally, an aperture is drilled through the tubulature and the wall of the vessel.
