[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a concrete mixing machine of the kind in which measured quantities of aggregate, cement and water are delivered from hoppers or like containers to mixing devices, means are provided for stopping the machine when the amount of material in any of the feed hoppers &c. falls to a predetermined amount or when the amount of mixed concrete in a container to which the machine may deliver reaches a predetermined value. In the machine shown, which is similar to that described in Specification 527,028, [Group II], gravel, sand, cement and water are supplied from containers D, E, F, J respectively on to an endlessbelt conveyer A and mixed by agitators G1-G4 driven from a shaft H. Pivoted rods M1 M2, M3, controlled by pivoted flaps K1 K2, K3 in the containers D, E, F, and a pivoted rod M4 controlled by a ball.R in the water tank J, are adapted, when the material in the corresponding container falls to a predetermined amount, to fall and engage one of the conveyer chains so as to move forward with the chain and operate a push rod N through a tappet P to throw out a clutch Q and thinly stop the conveyer. Alternatively, the flaps may operate electric contacts in an electrical control. A pivoted rod M5, carried by a rod M6 normally held in raised position by .a solenoid-operated stop, falls to engage the chain for similarly stopping the conveyer when the circuit is closed by the mixed concrete in a delivery container reaching a predetermined amount. The tappets may be swung out of reach of the rods to eliminate the automatic control.
