Abstract
547,360. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 24, 1941, No. 12350. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1940. [Class 29] A motor-compressor unit 25 of a machinecooled domestic cabinet is arranged at the top or bottom rear corner of the cabinet, with the evaporator 23 at one side at the top, the unit being beyond the back of the inner liner 18 and below the bottom or above the top of the liner. It may be in a sealed casing with cooling fins 34. The unit is suspended by springs 27 from brackets 26 secured to a back plate carrying the condenser 24 and spaced from the back wall to provide an air flue 30. The back plate and back wall may be lined with sound deadening material. Air admission louvres 32 may be provided at the front below the storage space, which may be fitted with receptacles 37a supported slidably on rail tracks 50. The Specification, as open under Sect. 91, comprises also an arrangement in which the motor-compressor unit is arranged in an open-ended cylindrical casing with the condenser coiled around it, and air may be circulated over and through the casing by a fan driven by a separate motor. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
