Abstract

547,337. Sheet-metal containers. CROWN CORK & SEAL CO., Inc. Feb. 21, 1941, No. 2411. Convention date, March 7, 1940. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] Sheet-metal containers comprise seamless body, shoulder, and neck portions produced by drawing operations, screw threads being rolled intermediate the neck portions and the upper portions thereof being conically contracted and formed. into a closed or open bead to afford sealing engagement with the liner of a crown cork or with a liner disposed within the end of a screw cap. Bottoms are attached in any convenient manner to the open ends of the body portions. Fig. 4 shows a construction in which the neck is shouldered and reduced so that the screw cap 13 can be applied over a crown cork 24 and used as a re-closure means after the removal of the crown cork. Specifications 488,427 and 488,628 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the construction shown in Fig. 6 (Cancelled) in which the conical contraction is omitted and the mouth bead is replaced by a fold or hem 31. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
