547,227. Sealing containers. WHITE CAP CO. Feb. 18, 1941, No. 2194. Convention date, April 17, 1940. [Class 125 (ii)] Relates to apparatus for applying closures to can; &c. and consists in automatically compensating slight irregularities ir height and position of cans Cans V with lids G pass ir line under, a sealing bell 41, which travels in contact with lower surfaces o: shoes 25, 25<SP>1</SP> against which it is held by a tightener 42. Two hangers 12, supported in a casing 10 by means of spring rods 14, carry at their lower ends feet 12a, which are grooved to receive shackles 19, pivoted at 20. The shackles have adjusting screws 21, anchored in heads 22 of brackets 24. The screws act as radius rods and control the spacing between the hangers. The shoes 25, 25<SP>1</SP> are suspended on mountings 12b by means of journal pins 26, which permit the shoes to oscillate laterally. The spring rods 14 permit the shoes to oscillate vertically. The belt 41 passes around rollers 29, 35 mounted on the shoe 25. The roller 29 is journalled on an axle 28 which also carries the lower legs 30a of a yoke 30. The yoke can be swung to various positions to move the roller 35 in and out and can be secured by a pin passing into adjustment holes 32. Specifications 383,744 and 432,463 are referred to.
