Abstract

547,072. Doors. BROWNE, J. H. WILSON-. March 7, 1941, No. 3097. [Class 20 (iii)] A flexible, inflatable tube 12, preferably of rubber, seals the edges of vehicle doors. It may be endless, butt-ended, or comprise a series of tubes arranged end-to-end. The side 15 remote from the supporting member is thicker than the other, and may be reinforced. Fluid pressure may be supplied from a storage vessel through a two-way valve which allows the tube to exhaust when sealing is no longer required. Pressure may be supplied from a flexible bellows, or piston and cylinder. As shown, the movable portion of the bellows 17 carries a hollow boss 19 with an internal quick screw-thread engaged by the threaded spindle 20 of the door-handle. Raising the handle to close the door-catch contracts the bellows and supplies fluid pressure to the tube 12.
