Abstract

546,004. Resilient mountings. METALASTIK, Ltd., and GOLDSCHMIDT, M. Feb. 15, 1941, No. 2087. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XIX] A resilient mounting arrangement of instruments, motors and the like to upright supporting structures, of the kind in which rubber members are employed in the mounting means, is characterised in that each rubber member is secured between overlapping portions of inclined brackets arranged respectively on the supporting structure and the body to be supported and in that a vertically spaced pair (or pairs) of such mounting means is (or are) so disposed between the support and the body that the resultant stresses in the rubber members under load are along inclined lines which intersect in a horizontal line passing through the centre of gravity of the body. An instrument a, such as an amplifying unit for wireless signals, is supported on a vertical structure b, such as a vehicle, by a pair or pairs of supports comprising rubber members g, directly bonded by vulcanisation to brackets, c, d inclined in such a way that the planes of the main stresses in the rubber members intersect at or near the centre of gravity h of the instrument a. Alternatively the rubber is bonded to end plates i, each carrying a screw pin j and flats as shown in Fig. 5 for rigid keying to the brackets. In Fig. 4, the rubber members g are divided and are mainly loaded in double shear. Specifications 523,020 and 543,917 are referred to.
