543,261. Pulley blocks. NATIONAL SUPPLY CORPORATION, and OIL WELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 15, 1940, No. 13057. Convention date, Feb. 7. [Class 78 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A multiple sheave pulley block has a washer 29 fixed on the sheave shaft 5 between each pair of sheaves 28 to prevent the latter from piling against cne another toward one end, with resulting excessive pressure due to accumulated end thrust. The sheaves are mounted on roller bearings 31, the highest speed end bearing being preferably of the tapered roller type. The shaft 5 is stationary and has an upper keyway in which slide keys locking both the washers 29 and the inner races 33 of the bearings 31 to the shaft. Removable line spacers 26 are bolted between the sheaves, and slotted covers 54 are hinged at 57. The load is taken by a clevis 22 carried by links 23, and lubrication tubes 60 are fitted in a bore 59 in the shaft 5 to reach each of the bearings 31. Means are provided for locking the tightening nut 11 of the shaft 5, and also the nuts 21, 14 of the load-supporting shaft 4 and of a suspension pin 3, and also for locking the heads of these three members 3, 4, 5. The nut 11 clamps together all the races 33 and washers 29 on the shaft 5 to prevent end play.
