Abstract

542,867. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (Tokyo Shibaura Denki Kabushiki Kaisha.). Feb. 7, 1941, No. 1685. [Class 38 (v)] A line 1 is protected against lightning surges by an arrester 2 in series with a circuit-breaker 3, which is adapted to be tripped by a time-delay relay the winding 5 of which is shunted across a spark gap 6 through which surges pass to the arrester 2. If the power current following the surge persists for a given time, the circuit is opened by the relay which pulls its adjustable plunger down into the enlarged lower part of the dashpot 7.
