Abstract

542,521. Tracks for model railways. PINDER, T. Jan. 30, 1941, No. 1204. [Class 132 (iii)] A track for model railways comprises laterally flexible rails 3 interconnected by sleepers 1 for maintaining the gauge, the arrangement being such that the track can be flexed laterally into either a plain or a sinuous curve. All the sleepers are permanently and rigidly connected at right angles, as by soldering, to one of the rails, not necessarily all to the same rail, and all of them are connected to the other rail or rails so as to be capable of movement lengthwise thereo with the possible exception of the centre sleeper in the track length which may be permanently and rigidly connected to all the rails so as to prevent relative longitudinal displacement of the rails. The system is applicable to two or three-rail tracks, and can be applied to a flexible point as shown in Fig. 4. Gaps between track length junctions created by the fore-shortening of the outer rail of any curved track length may be bridged by rail clips for connecting the ends of adjacent rails or by short lengths of track with different rail lengths in that section.
