540,214. Tea and coffee preparations. CATALANO, P. C., and MERKER, O. O. March 1, 1940, No. 3902. [Class 129] In the production of dry extracts of tea or coffee, the tea &c. is infused with boiling water sufficient to cover it, it is well mixed, then cold water is added and the mixture is kept in an air-tight container for, say, 24 hours. Then hot distilled water is added, and the mixture is left for another 24 hours, after which it is filtered and evaporated at about 60 degrees Centigrade to dryness. Sugar and milk powder may be added.
