Abstract

539,659. Mixing valves. HYRESGA.STERNAS SPARKASSE-OCH BYGGNADSFORENINGARS RIKSFORBUND, U.P.A. Dec. 28, 1939, No. 33008. Convention date, April 15, 1939. [Class 135] A mixing valve particularly for hot and cold water is provided with two co-axially disposed spindles co-operating with valve members and adapted to be turned both separately and in common, each spindle being connected with a wheel or knob, which are arranged sufficiently close to each other as to permit both to be gripped at the same time by one hand. In the form shown in Fig. 1 an outer annular lift valve is carried by a socket having an externally screwed extension 24 engaging a screwed recess in a spindle 22 rotatably mounted in a cover 11. The spindle 22 is held in place by a yoke 30 which also co-operates with slots in the socket to hold the valve against rotation. An inner valve 19 is held against rotation by a squared bail engaging a hole in the valve seat and has an internally threaded socket engaging a screwed spindle 23 provided with a collar 39 bearing against the yoke 30. A handle 25 is secured to the spindle 23 by screws 26, 28 and a ferrule 27 bearing against the end of the spindle 22. This spindle has a squared part on which a second handle 31 is slidably mounted adjacent the handle 25. The handle 31 has a recess 34 adapted when the handle is moved against the action of a spring 32 to engage frictionally with a rib 33 on the handle 25 so that the two handles may turn as a unit. In a modification the inner ends of the two spindles carry toothed pinions co-operating with toothed quadrants mounted on the plugs of two plugcocks arranged side by side in the valve casing.
