Abstract

537,736. Building-slabs. PRENTON BRICK & TILE CO., Ltd., and SHARPLES, A. G. Dec. 27, 1939, No. 32866. [Class 87 (i)] [Also in Group V] In moulding hollow articles forming component parts of concrete or ferro-concrete structures hollow clay cores moulded by extrusion are employed which after functioning in the moulding process remain in situ in the finished article. The clay cores may be moulded by extrusion with single or multiple cavities. An open topped mould 10 is provided with a bottom layer of concrete 11 on which cores 12 of clay are arranged the remainder of the mould being then filled up with concrete. A multiple cored roofing slab Fig. 3 is provided with tongue and grooved joints and may also have an integral gutter. Constructions for making square and round columns are also described. In making articles having branched members Fig. 7 the cores are mitred and jointed together.
