[Class 81 (i)] [Also in Group III] A brushless shaving aid which is in the form of a stick adapted to be applied directly to the face without the use of any applicator other than the stick itself comprises fatty or waxy material to which, by means of a suitable emulsifier, hydropholic properties have been imparted to a degree sufficient to render the product readily wettable but only sufficient to make it sparingly soluble in water, the mixture being of such consistency that it can be moulded into a self sustaining stick which when rubbed on the wetted skin readily adheres thereto and leaves a thin continuous smear providing adequate lubrication. Blends of vegetable oil and a waxy material with soap or a partial fatty acid ester for a polyhydric alcohol as emulsifier are suitable. An indicator such as an opacifier, dyestuff or pigment may be present. A specifier composition comprises sesame oil, spermacetti, stearin, soap, monoglycerides of coconut fatty acids, titanium oxide and perfume. Groundnut, cotton seed and olive oil and ozokerite are mentioned.
