Abstract

537,385. Paving blocks. UNIVERSAL RUBBER PAVIORS Ltd., and GAISMAN, L. Jan. 12, 1940, No. 705. [Class 87 (i)] A rubber-faced paving block, preferably fixed to a concrete base as described in Specifications 194,618, 198,618, [both in Class 87 (i)], 377,269, [Group V], and 436,212, is provided with a non-skid self-cleaning surface by moulding its face with a number of yieldable island parts a having sharp edges formed by grooves b which are of such width and depth that they allow the parts a to yield independently of each other. The parts a may be smooth, or brambled or otherwise patterned. Channel blocks for use with such paving blocks when laying a road have grooves of a larger area, to accommodate drainage water. Specification 218,919, [Class 87 (i)], also is referred to.
