Abstract

537,287. Packing; wrappers. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., and WALKER,C A. Jan. 23, 1940, No. 1347. [Classes 94 (i) and 94 (ii)] A wrapper suitable for an annular package, such as a coil of insulated wire or rubber tube, comprises a strip of flexible material having a continuous central part 2, Fig. 1, and a number of side pieces 3 which project from the side edges of the part 2 and are separated from one another by relatively narrow cuts or gaps 5. The part 2 is adapted to lie on and be bent around the outer circumference of the package, as shown in Fig. 3, the side pieces being bent so that they lie on the sides and inner circumference of the article and complete the package by covering those parts. A binder may be used to secure the pieces 3, or their outer edges 7 may be made adhesive so that they can be stuck together after being folded around the package. The wrapper may be made of thin sheet metal, but non-metallic material such as stout paper is preferred. The strip can be made in long lengths and cut off as required.
