[Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group XVII] An electric kettle is formed with a body portion of moulded or pressed plastic or vitreous material such as phenol-formaldehyde resin or toughened heat-resisting glass, this portion comprising the heating element, and with a separately formed top part preferably integral with a.handle, and a lid fitting an opening in the top, a rubber sealing washer being disposed between the body portion and the top, which may be cemented to the body. The parts other than the body portion may be similarly formed or may be made of metal. The body is formed with an outwardly extending lip or spout partially covered by an extension of the top. When made of transparent vitreous or plastic material the body portion may be provided with a scale graduated in pints or ounces.
