536,875. Radial-cylinder engines. MAWEN MOTOR CORPORATION. Oct. 18, 1939, No. 28173. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1938. [Class 7 (ii)] In a radial-cylinder engine of the kind in which an annular valve member 14 surrounds and is relatively rotatable to the cylinder block 22 and has inlet ports 18, exhaust ports 16 and ignition pockets 54, means for connecting the ignition pockets temporarily to a zone of low pressure are provided in the annular sealing ring 50 carried by the cylinder heads. The venting means comprises a lateral passage 58, Fig. 5, a port 60 and ports 74 in a flange 70 which normally closes the passage 58. Alternatively, the venting means comprises a radial passage in the sealing ring covered by a check valve or a lateral groove in the sealing ring or a straight lateral passage in the valve member communicating with a short passage in the side of the sealing ring.
