Abstract

535,694. Reflectors. DOWNER, G. V. Sept. 14, 1939. No. 25840. [Class 75 (ii)] A reflector, for use with an electric or other lamp of any size within a given range, comprises a reflecting skirt portion 6 and a plurality of stepped co-axial zones 1, 2, 3 each designed to co-operate with a lamp of one standardized size, the reflector being fixed relative to the lamp, so that the desired distribution of light will always be obtained, without focussing or adjustment, with any size of lamp within the given range. The reflector may be made of aluminium, steel or plastics, and each stepped reflecting zone may be curved or formed from two or more inclined surfaces of rectilinear crosssection. The reflector may have a neck portion 4 with a flange 5 to rest on the shoulder of the lamp; alternatively the neck portion may support the lamp holder. In plan the reflector may be circular or rectangular ; or it may be trough-shaped with the stepped zones along the sides and/or ends of the trough.
