Abstract

535,552. Sliding doors. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. April 17, 1940, No. 6912. Convention date, April 25, 1939. [Class 20 (iii)] A guide for a horizontally sliding door 14 supported by hangers 13 from a rail 11 above the door comprises a bracket 23 secured to the lower end of the door and carrying a block 30 consisting of a number of sheets of textile material such as canvas, bonded together with resilient material, such as an artificial rubber known under the trade name of Neoprene. This block is a loose fit in a groove 22 below the door, and slides along the groove noiselessly when the door is moved. The canvas and rubber sheets are held together by upper and lower metal plates 31, 32 riveted together. The top plate being secured by screws 34 to the bracket 23.
