Abstract
535,370. Automatic guns. VERWALTUNGSGES DER WERKZEUG MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. June 1,.1939, No. 16179. Convention date, April 22. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] A cable or link gear 8 extending between a part of the gun mounting and the cocking handle 2a is operated to re-cock the breech mechanism when the gun is manipulated as by elevating or training or by folding the gunner's seat. Fig. 1 shows a cable, normally housed on a spring drum within the gun pedestal, which is withdrawn and passed over a pulley 3a and connected to the cocking handle. The gun can then be ,manually cocked by depressing the gun about its trunnions 4a to the dotted line position shown. In a modification (not shown), the required movement is obtained by raising the vertical pivot 4 by means of a hand-gear 6. Fig. 4 shows a cam 16 and cable gears 17 for moving slides 18 furnished with arms 18a for cocking four guns when the mounting is trained. When in use, the cam is fixed by a pin 20 and the cables are strained by the cam to cock the guns. In a modification (not shown), the elevating hand wheel drives a drum for the cable through the medium of a disconnectable clutch.
