Abstract

534,614. Cleaning and coating metals. JOHNSON & NEPHEW, Ltd., R., and ROBINSON, W. July 1, 1939, No. 19226. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In the production of galvanized ferrous wire or wire rod, the latter is subjected to intense and continuous bombardment from all sides by high-velocity metallic or non-metallic particles which not only clean the wire surface but physically alter the latter by hardening so that there is obtained a tight and effective bond between the wire and the zinc coating subsequently applied by hot dipping or electroplating.
