[Class 146 (ii)] [Also in Groups I and II] A package-binding tool for forming strap joints has a single operating-handle which in its continued ,movement tensions the strap, deforms a strap seal around the joint and then ejects a seal from the magazine in readiness for the next operation. The tensioning mechanism B comprises a grip wheel 18 and ratchet wheel 17 mounted on an eccentric shaft 15 and engaged by pawls 16, 20, the former being mounted on an auxiliary frame C pivoted on shaft 15 and the latter on the base A. Frame C carries the sealing mechanism D and seal magazine E and has pivoted to it at 31 the handle F. Spring - pressed clutches or latches 52 couple handle F to frame C until the frame reaches its limit position when the handle is released for further rotation so as to actuate the sealing mechanism D through link 30 and the ejector mechanism through lever 70. This lever carries two cams 77, 85, the former acting on pin 78 carried by lever 70 and the latter engaging a lug 86 on an arm 87 secured to the magazine E so as to advance the magazine to seal-ejecting position. The magazine is closed by a sliding gate 37 slotted for the passage of a projection 52 on the sliding ejector 50 which is coupled by screw 74 to the slotted inturned end 72 of lever 70. This lever 70 carries a pin 81 coacting with a cam 80 so that lever 70 is held when depressed by cam 77, until the magazine is advanced by cam 85 so that pin 81 clears cam 80 whereupon spring 76 restores lever 70 at the same time ejecting a seal from the magazine ready for the next operation.
