534,278. Coagulating rubber dispersions. DEWEY & ALMY, Ltd. (Dewey & Almy Chemical Co.). Aug. 30, 1939, No. 24939. [Class 70] In preparing articles by coagulation of aqueous dispersions of natural or artificial rubber, the dispersion is mixed with a metal ammine compound which becomes active as a coagulant when treatment with a liquid capable of reacting with ammonia or an amine and liberating the metallic ions. Ammine compounds prepared by reacting with ammonia or water-soluble amines such as methyl or ethyl amines, ethanolamines, ethanol-morpholine, pyridine ethylene diamine and diethylenetriamine with componds of zinc, magnesium, nickel, copper, cobalt, mercury or molybdenum may be used. The ammine compounds are decomposed by aqueous solutions of formaldehyde, or by aqeous dispersions of oleic, stearic, ricinoleic, lauric or other fatty acid, or with dispersions containing fatty acid and formaldehyde.
