533,941. Making acid solutions; flow meters. PERMUTIT CO., Ltd., and MILTON, J. G. Nov. 14, 1939, No. 30062. [Class 86] [Also in Group XIX] Apparatus for making and supplying acid solutions comprises a measuring tank to which the acid is supplied from bulk and from which it is pumped past a flow meter to a pipe line supplied with water at a measured rate, connections being furnished whereby the pump may be flushed with water at the end of the operation. The acid is fed from a brick supply 1, 2, Fig. 1, to a tank 5 fitted with a level indicator 6 and is fed therefrom by a pump 15 fitted with a byepass 18, to a mixing chamber 23 past a flow meter 22. Water is fed to the chamber past a second flow meter 14. As shown in Fig. 2, the flow meter for the acid comprises a glass tube 30 fitted with a tapered spindle 33 on which rides a perforated, inverted cup which rises to a height that forms a measure of the rate of supply.
