Abstract
532,403. Worm conveyers. EVERY, C. E. (Europeesche Fuller Vervoermaatschappij N. V.). Aug. 17, 1939, No. 23760. [Class 78 (i)] A portable unit, comprising a worm conveyer delivering to a pneumatic conveyer, is fitted with means for readily attaching it to the outlet of a silo or like storage chamber, a single apparatus thus being utilized to empty a numb er of such chambers. Fig. 1 shows a worm 1 delivering to pneumatic conveyer apparatus 3, 4 which in turn delivers at the outlet 6. A box 9 surrounding a portion of the worm is bolted detachably to the flange 22 on the portable apparatus and is formed with a neck 13, Fig. 2, which enters the splayed portion 24 of the silo exit. Pivoted turn-up bolts 17 draw the slidable annulus 14 towards the fixed flange 15 on the silo, thus wedging packing 16 between the members 13, 24 to form an air-tight joint. There are four positions in which the bolts 17 can engage the member 15 thus allowing orientation of the portable appliance as a whole with respect to the silo. The portion 10 of the box is parallel to the periphery of the worm. The box can be removed from the flange 22 as a unit and replaced by a suitable feed device for taking material from a heap on the ground. Specifications 396,600 and 402,998 are referred to.
