Abstract

531,437. Thread guides. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. July 22, 1939, No. 21329. Convention date, July 28, 1938. [Class 120 (ii)] A thread guide for use on spinning and other textile machines comprises a thread guiding member attached to a supporting member, the thread guiding member being formed from a piece of flat metal folded into a U-section or from two pieces of metal united together, to form twc spaced layers each of which has a guide opening and ar entrance opening leading tc the guide opening, the en trance openings being at a substantial angle to each other. The thread guide may be provided with hard wear resisting surfaces, for example of a hardened metal alloy o of a wear-resisting carbide such as boron carbide, at the parts of the guide openings with which the thread contacts. Thus an eyelet of wear-resisting material and provided with an entrance opening corresponding to the entrance opening in the guide opening may be secured in each guide opening. Fig. 4 shows a metal stamping 2, which when folded upon itself, affixed to a supporting member I and fitted with a wear-resistant eyelet 9 in each of the circular holes 3 and 4, forms the thread guide shown in Fig. 1.
