[Class 117] [Also in Group XVIII] In vending machines of the type in which, on insertion of a coin, trip mechanism releases delivery mechanism operated by a weight, spring, &c. manually operable delivery means is provided to supplement the weight &c. should the articles adhere together. Fig. 2 shows a pile of packets 27 the top one of which is adapted to be forced over a guide 4 by a reciprocating pusher 3 operated by a coin-released weight 2 acting through a rocking lever 9 pivoted to a connecting rod 10. To the lever 9 is pivoted a spring-biassed lever 7 having a tail 11 which contacts with a stud 28 on the lower arm of lever 9. On pressing in a button 5 the tail 11 forces the lever 9 and pusher 3 to complete their movement and push the packet 27 along. In the pre-coin-insertion position of the parts shown, pressure on the button 5 would result only in idle swinging of the tail 11 without actuation of pusher 3. Fig. 4 shows a form adapted to push the bottom packet 18 of a pile through a shoot 30. The spring- retracted button 5 carries at its inner end a pivoted pawl 14 pressed by a spring 15, in cooperation with a tail 29 and a stop 16, into alignment with the length of the button. The pawl 14 bears against one of the crossbars 17, 21, 22 of a weight &c. operated squirrel cage pusher 13. The bottom packet 18 rests on two discs 19 forming part of the cage 13, and, before coin insertion, on the bar 21. If the weight &c. is insufficient to shift the packet 18 when the bar 17 comes against its rear, the bar 22 will by then have entered a notch 24 in the pawl 14 and will transmit manual pressure on button 5 to the cage and packet 18. Pushing the button 5 before coin insertion will cause the pawl 14 simply to slide to and fro beneath the bar 22. Specification 528,463 is referred to.
