[Class 32] In spray evaporators of the kind in which a solution or emulsion is delivered to a rapidly rotating disc within a closed casing through which is passed a current of warm evaporating agent, preferably hot-air, and wherein currents of secondary air are introduced into the drying chamber above and below the disc, the currents of secondary air are supplied by fans or blowers which are independent of the gun or blower for the main current whereby drying conditions may be regulated according to the material treated. As shown, material is supplied by a pipe F to a rapidly rotating disc Z within a chamber T and a main current of warm air is supplied by a fan I through a heater L, the air and dried material being withdrawn through a conduit 2 by a fan II. Currents of secondary air are supplied through pipes 3, 4 by fans III, IV and may be introduced at a temperature, e.g. considerably higher, than that of the main current. The fans may be electrically driven and controlled in common from a switchboard S, or the fans III and IV may be controlled in common, the fans I, II being regulated independently, A thermostat fitted in the outlet pipe may regulate the supply of material.
