Abstract

529,950. Containers for milk &c. MOSS, W. H. June 13, 1939, No. 17255. [Class 66] [Also in Group V] Transparent seamless containers for the retail distribution of milk &c., formed from cellulose acetate or other suitable film-forming material containing a small proportion of a suitable plasticizer, are provided with mouth flanges of at least twice and up to ten times the thickness of the side walls. The containers may be produced by a dipping process, employing a polished aluminium former 1 and a stripping ring 9 of the same material. After dipping, the former is inverted and dried slowly, the dope from the former draining on to the surface 10 of the stripping ring to produce the thickened flange 16. The containers are turned inside out by the stripping operation and by regulating the speed of this the bottom 17 may be given a slight inward dishing. When filled, the containers are sealed by square-shaped covers 18 of similar material attached to the flange either by heat and pressure or by adhesive. Specification 520,916 is referred to.
