529,811. Trimming soles. POCHIN, H. W., and DOVE, G. H. June 8, 1939, No. 16819. [Class 17 (i) ] The edges of the soles of veldtschoen and similar footwear are trimmed by a band knife d or rotary cup-shaped cutter in combination with a fixed guide f serving as an abutment to support the sole during the cutting operation and formed with a slot through which the cutter passes. The tip of the guide may be renewable. The band knife is backed by a pair of rollers b, c. When a rotary cup-shaped knife is used it is large, so that the trimmed sole edge is substantially straight.
