Abstract

528,718. Electric heating resistances. SCHOENI, W. May 13, 1939, No. 14336. Convention date, May 16, 1938. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric tubular resistance element consisting. of a resistance wire a contained in a metal tube c, having one or more ceramic lining tubes m, Fig. 2, has a filling of insulating powder d inserted vertically into the tube c whilst the latter is oscillated to compact the insulation d, by a vibrating mechanism k, Fig. 3. During the filling the material d is maintained at a temperature above 100‹ C. by passing a suitable current through the resistance a. The lining tubes c may have slanting bores to hold the wire d in position. Any number of tubes c, Fig. 7, may be arranged in the outer tube c, the intervening spaces . being filled with insulating powder d.
