Abstract

528,553. Incandescent and discharge electric lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. (Patent-Treuhand-Ges. fur Elektrische Gluhlampen.). May 9, 1939, Nos. 13859 and 24490. [Class 39 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] The leading-in wires (or at least one of the leading-in wires) of an incandescent or discharge electric lamp used in explosive atmospheres are insulated to prevent short-circuit if the wires touch by a sheath of woven vitreous material for example woven glass wool. The flexibility of the sheath may be increased by subjecting the vitreous fibres to known frosting or etching agents either before or after they are woven into the sheath.
