[Classes 102 (i) and 102 (ii)] A pneumatically operated lubricating device comprises a removable cartridge 4 from which lubricant is forced by a pneumatically actuated plunger 5 therein towards the inlet 3 of a highpressure cylinder 1 with which co-operates a pneumatically actuated high-pressure piston 2, the axis of the cylinder 1 and piston 2 being substantially parallel with that of the cartridge. The piston 2 is actuated by a pneumatically driven plunger 9 against the action of a spring 22, whilst the cartridge 4 is arranged in a chamber 6 closed by a detachable cover 7, the rear end 18 of the cartridge having one or more apertures 19 for the passage of air or other fluid under pressure. The latter is. supplied by means of a nipple 12 in a handle 10, a throttling device 33 being controlled by a rotatable grip 36. The air passes through a conduit 11 to a chamber 14 containing valves 24, 25 acted upon by a spring 27 and controlled by a trigger 26. These valves control a passage 28 leading to atmosphere and channels 15, 16 leading to a space 23 behind the plunger 9 and to a space 17 fitted with a non-return valve 29 and a pressure relief valve 38, and communicating with the rear of cartridge 4. The latter is connected to the inlet conduit 20 by means of a screw-threaded ripple 30 with a relatively large washer 31, and the inside walls of the chamber 6 may be provided with guiding ribs or the like for holding the cartridge in correct position.
