526,944. Pulleys. PULTRA, Ltd., and SCHWABE, F. M. March 22, 1939, No. 37247/38. [Class 80 (i)] Lagging for covering pulleys comprises a moulded flexible body o: rubber, balata or other suitable material having a reinforcement of a plurality of layers d o woven textile fabric pre ferably arranged on the bias, consolidated by vulcanization, polymerization or other known process suitable for the impregnant and shaped or moulded with its under and upper faces arched initially concave and convex respectively, the convex arching being such as to provide an ultimate surface flat transversely or with a pronounced convex transverse arch or crown when fixed cn the pulley. Grooves c may be formed, either in the moulding or by cutting away the plies, to accommodate rivets. The fabric plies may be of long staple Egyptian cotton with 36 ends and 36 picks to the inch and weighing 8¥ ounces per square yard. The lagging may be moulded in straight or circular lengths. Tough rubber is used in such quantity that the lagging is about “ inch thick at the centre. The lagging may be secured to a flat or curved band for attachment to a pulley or be secured direct to the pulley itself. Specifications 470,261 and 530,236 are referred to.
