Abstract

525,854. Supplying compressed gas from storage. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., and ANDERSON, W. March 2, 1939, No. 6808. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXVII] Gas is supplied alternately from two sets of cylinders A through separate stop valves D and pairs of reducing valves E, F, and a common stop valve G and needle valve H. When the pressure on the inlet side of the reducing valve F in use diminishes, a corresponding pressure-responsive contact K is made, and energizes a corresponding solenoid M which acts on a lever L to lower the pressure setting of the valve F in use and increase the setting of the other valve F. The supply is then cut off from the cylinders A in use and started from the other cylinders. The empty cylinders now no longer in use may be replaced by full cylinders. The switches K and a delivery pressure switch N control local warning lamps Q and remote lamps, and also control a hooter through a relay which can be put out of action. This relay comprises a switch contact S<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4, raised by the arm V<SP>2</SP> of an armature V<SP>1</SP> when the solenoid is energized, to complete a circuit through a second contact S<SP>2</SP>. The contact is broken by a push rod X acting through a U-shaped member W to raise the contact S<SP>2</SP>, the member W being supported in its upper position by an extension carrying an auxiliary armature Y.
