524,649. Photographic roll film cameras. STEENBERGEN, J., DIEBEL, O., FRAUENSTEIN, H., ENGLISCH, E., SCHUBERT, H., KOCH, C., [trading as Ihagee Kamerawerk Steenbergen & Co.] and NUCHTERLEIN, K. Feb. 2, 1939, No. 3552. [Class 98 (i)] In a camera having a sprocket shaft for guiding the film positively driven from the film-winding shaft, means are provided to disconnect the sprocket shaft from the winding shaft during the rewinding operation. A gear wheel 3, Fig. 3, on the winding shaft 2 may be connected to a gear 12 on the sprocket shaft 11 through a pinion 14 rotatably mounted on a shaft 15 which is axially movable through the camera-frame 1, and normally pressed upwards by a spring 17 to cause the pinion 14 to engage the gears 3 and 12. Before rewinding, the shaft 15 is depressed by turning a handle 20 on a shaft 19 carrying a pin 22 operating on a cam member 23 loosely surrounding the shaft 19 and engaging the top of the pinion shaft 15. As shown in Fig. 5 the bottom of the shaft 19 may be cut away to form a cam for releasing, during the rewinding operation, a pawl 30 from a pinion 28 rotated by a gear 27 on the winding shaft 2. The winding shaft 2 may carry a pinion 9 engaging the shutter-winding mechanism to wind this as the film is fed, for example as described in Specification 500,626.
