Abstract
524,251. Tanks and cisterns. COUNTY COMMERCIAL CARS, Ltd., and LEGG, A. B. Jan. 26, 1939, No. 2689. [Class 69 (i)] A portable tank or like receptacle, composed of a number of sections adapted to be assembled, has the edge of the base formed with an inwardly projecting lip or one or more lugs to receive a laterally projecting flange on the bottom edge of each wall, and the vertical edges of the walls are flanged and adapted to be secured together, jointing material being interposed between the walls and between the walls and base. As shown, the edges of the base c have inwardly projecting lips c<SP>1</SP> under which are received laterally projecting flanges a', bl of the walls a, b, the walls resting on a unitary frame d of rubber &c. held to the base by rivets e. The vertical edges of the walls are mitred or flanged as at a<SP>2</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, and preferably reinforced by strips h, a strip of rubber &c. g being interposed, and the mitres &c. are drawn together by one or more clamps f, each of which may be hinged to a strip h ; the strips g have thickened or splayed lower ends which on compression flow downward to complete the fluid tight joint. In a modification, the bottom edge of each wall may be thickened or enlarged, or have an inwardly projecting flange, which may be corrugated, acting as a foot to compress the jointing material when the walls are connected. A lid and internal baffles or strengthening rods may be provided.
