522,339. Impact pulverizers. KOCK, E. A. J. Jan. 9, 1939, No. 642. [Class 59] In an impact . grinding-mill of the kind in which the upper part of a grinding-chamber is provided with an inlet 1 for air and material to be ground and with an outlet 26 for airborne particles while a vaned disc rotor 12 and coacting impact ring 15 are disposed in the lower part, a stationary hollow upwardly convergent annular partition 19 is arranged above and coaxial with the rotor and is fitted with radial vanes 20 extending to the tapering wall 21 of the chamber so as to form passages in which a primary sorting of the particles occurs, while a secondary sorting occurs when the particles pass over the upper edge of the partition 19, the heavier particles being re-distributed to the rotor by a baffle 28. In the construction shown means are provided for adjusting the impact ring 15 relatively to the edges of the vanes 13, and for adjusting the baffle 28, and only the upper surface of the disc is provided with vanes. In a modification the material is fed through an aperture in the disc 12 to vanes on the lower side of the disc, and thence via the passages 20 and baffle 28 to vanes on the upper side of the disc.
