Abstract

521,772. Gas burners. BRUMBAUGH, I. V. Nov. 25, 1938, No. 34423. [Class 75 (i)] A gas burner, particularly for heating ovens, comprises a hollow body 1 having two rows of outlets 7, 8 in staggered relationship with opposite inclination to form cross flames, the parts being so arranged that, except when the gas is turned very low, each flame impinges by its side edge or edges near its base on the corresponding part of the adjacent flame or flames of the other row. As shown, the outlets 7, 8 are formed in the opposite sides of a wall 6 of V-section and indentations 10 are provided between the outlets to prevent the flames impinging on the wall and facilitate access of secondary air. The mixing tube 2 has an enlargement 3 opening into the body 1 and a baffle 12 maintains a uniform pressure at the outlets. The central portion of the baffle extends across the body and the outer portions 20 taper towards the tips 21. The body 1 may be of circular or other shape.
