521,435. Piezo-electric instruments. BRUSH CRYSTAL CO., Ltd. April 21. 1939, No. 12039. Convention date April 22, 1938. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] Fig. 3 shows a piezo-electric crystal unit 1a mounted at three corners between rubber plates 3 clamped between metal cover plates 5, the fourth corner which is free to vibrate being attached to a wire 4 extending through flexible sealing 9 in the upper cover plate 5'to the diaphragm of a loud-speaker. A central rigid plate 2 has an extension 2b forming a support for the terminals 7. Fig. 10 shows a gramophone pick-up in which the crystal unit of trapezoidal shape is held at one edge between yielding plates 29 and has its opposite edge clamped to a flexible torsion shaft 32 which is mounted in sealing gaskets 36 and carries a stylus arm 34.
