520,483. Washing-machines. BRAITHWAITE & .SON ENGINEERS, Ltd., I., and BANKS, W. Oct. 20, 1938, No. 30296. [Class 138 (ii)] Relates to washing machines of the type in which a perforated drum or container rotates about a horizontal axis within a case containing the washing liquor, slots or apertures A being provided in the outer case B through which scum may be drained away when the machine is filled to about its maximum working level, the slots A being advantageously located at just below the medial line of the drum casing, and' closed by detachable hinged doors C. The pintle D of the doors C is located so that the doors tend to swing open, and handles H facilitate bodily removal. The doors may be held closed by manually operated'cams E, which may be coupled together, or by screws, .bolts, &c. A shield M may be located below the doors to lead the scum to a drain, and a buffer bar N may be fitted to take the impact of loading trucks.
